Available Now! Revolutionise your airway management simulation training with Smart Airway

7.8.24

A sensor-driven simulation platform for airway management training enabling self-directed & validated assessments with personalized feedback.

The Smart Airway, featuring a head and torso manikin, offers a sensor-driven simulation platform enabling validated assessment and personalized feedback for competency training across fundamental and advanced airway techniques.

Techniques which can be measured include; incisor force, cricoid pressure, jaw thrust, head positioning, ventilation rate and volume, effective or ineffective ventilation and placement. The parameters for the success of these skills can be adjusted as required based on the  users’ level of experience.

The platform has three learning modes; practise, self-directed and instructor led making it ideal to create a training journey for the user from learning to assessment.

Self-Directed Training Smart Airway App

Independent learning allows the user to familiarise themselves with the model or app and get real-time feedback on techniques such as incisor force, cricoid pressure, head position, jaw thrust, and BVM. This allows students to build and improve their knowledge of procedures and assess progress through an objective self-directed training session.

The platform helps discern accurate adherence from inconsistencies in established best practices, creating transparent pathways for targeted refinement. Audio and text feedback once again aids in providing the feedback required to improve their techniques.

Video tutorials provide information on what each skill is, contradictions, background information, and audio and text feedback on the student’s performance. The student can customise what skill they would like to focus on. Quantitative feedback is provided on performance with graded marks presented.

The instructor can modify scenarios and assessment criteria based on the user’s level of experience.

Optional pre-theory knowledge questions for each topic or procedure are available and can be edited and assessed accordingly.

Debrief video and quantitative feedback is provided post assessment, and the instructor can provide additional feedback on how they can improve their technique.

A certificate of completion and summary of results will be provided at the end of the assessment.

Video Debrief - Smart Airway Adult

Quantitative feedback data helps students improve technique and track progress over time, making it easier for instructors to manage students and note their training efforts.

Video-based feedback utilising the built-in camera on iPads/Tablets provides interactive post-scenario learning without extra equipment, with time stamps for each element captured.

Receiving quantitative feedback on the student’s performance removes the potential for bias or inconsistencies by having set criteria to meet.

Smart Airway is designed for busy classroom environments, with quick setup and minimal downtime between users. It allows for tailored assessments and feedback based on individual experience levels.
